Cerro de Punta: Atractivo Turístico en Jayuya

 



Información General Cerro de Punta es el pico más alto de Puerto Rico, alcanzando 1,338 metros (4,390 pies) sobre el nivel del mar 

. Está ubicado en la frontera entre los municipios de Ponce y Jayuya, dentro del Bosque Estatal Toro Negro 
.

Acceso y Visita

  • Cómo llegar: El acceso principal es desde la Ruta PR-143, en el límite entre Ponce y Jayuya 
  • Opciones para subir: Puedes conducir o caminar hasta la cima. Si conduces, se recomienda vehículo de doble tracción (4x4) 
  • Caminata: El sendero desde la carretera principal hasta la cima toma aproximadamente 30 minutos 
    . Algunos visitantes reportan que es cerca de media milla de caminata 

Condiciones del Camino ⚠️ Importante: Varios visitantes advierten que el camino de acceso está en mal estado, con secciones erosionadas, cráteres grandes y grava suelta 

. Se recomienda estacionar en la carretera principal y caminar si no tienes un vehículo 4x4 adecuado.

Experiencia en la Cima

  • Vistas panorámicas: Desde la cima puedes ver toda la isla de Puerto Rico y el Mar Caribe 
  • Clima: La temperatura es significativamente más fresca que en las zonas costeras (puede estar alrededor de 60°F) 
  • Instalaciones: Hay dos torres de antena en la cima 

Recomendaciones

  • Visita en la mañana para clima más claro y fresco 
  • Lleva agua (una botella por persona) 
  • El acceso desde la carretera no está bien señalizado, busca "Cerro de Punta Trailhead" en Google Maps

Toro Negro Mountain House

 The most incredible views The most amazing time of you lives here , it’s located just close enough to go anywhere on the island and be back in time for a beautiful jungle sunset , Best sleep I’ve ever had in my life as well , the breeze and sounds are wonderful. So grateful we found this place! The quaint ,little cabin on top of the mountain came equipped with everything we needed. Very airy and clean , I loved waking up to the cool breeze. So if you are active and like the outdoors this is the perfect place. Lastly ,our host was exceptional. Just a call away if we needed anything The most incredible views! We loved hiking down the steep (a bit treacherous) trail to the gorgeous private river and swimming hole. I would not recommend the hike if you are scared of falling and hurting yourself.
